Ústí Region

 

The Ústí Region is situated in north-west part of the Czech Republic, alongside the border with Germany. The area of the region is divided into 16 administrative units with an increased sphere of authority in: Bílina, Děčín, Chomutov, Kadaň, Litoměřice, Litvínov, Louny, Lovosice, Most, Podbořany, Roudnice nad Labem, Rumburk, Teplice, Ústí nad Labem, Varnsdorf and Žatec.

The Ústí Region stretches over an area of 5,335 km2, which is approximately 6,8 % of the total area of the Czech Republic. The number of inhabitants, 823 173, places it in the fifth place in the Czech Republic. The average population density is 154 inhabitants/ km2, thus the Ústí Region belongs to the most densely inhabited area in the Czech Republic. There are all together 354 communities, from which 46 have the status of a town. The largest town and at the same time the regional capital is Ústí nad Labem with its 94,298 inhabitants. The whole region has a relatively strong connection with the capital city of Prague, which is supported by its relatively close proximity and good travel accessibility.
