Central Bohemia
– a region that you can’t miss!

The Central Bohemia Region is the largest region in the Czech Republic, which surrounds the Czech capital Prague. It is often considered to be the true heart of the country. In fact, the region is home to some of the oldest settlements in the country, and at a later time, a number of historically important events had taken place here, many of which had a direct impact on European history as a whole. There are many places of interest in Central Bohemia with every experience you can imagine. In limestone rocks of Berounka river you will discover million years old trilobites, along Elbe river you may visit historical towns such as Mělník, Kolín, Poděbrady or Kutná Hora, a unique medieval town that is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Below Kokořín Castle you can enter mysterious sand-stone rocks. You will return back to the Middle Ages in the walls of Karlštejn or Křivoklát Castle, you can also enjoy romance in Žleby, Kačina, Konopiště or Jemniště Chateau. Stará Boleslav and Svatá Hora are the most sacred places in Bohemia. And in Příbram or Kutná Hora there are ancient silver mines. In Mladá Boleslav you can learn the history of Škoda Auto. A number of protected landmark areas are located here, such as UNESCO Biosphere Preservation Area of Křivoklát and the geographically fascinating Bohemian Karst. Golf courses, spa resort of Poděbrady and glass works in Nižbor are also worth visiting.
